That might change with a new announcement from the Crysis Twitter account. The account tweeted yesterday that developer Crytek had released hotfixes for motion blur issues in Crysis Remastered as well as ensuring DLSS could be enabled on all systems that allowed it. Crytek followed up that tweet with another that teased “updates for both Xbox and PlayStation,” which has effectively caused fans of the game to launch into a discussion about what these upgrades could be.

Crysis Remastered is currently not available on next-gen consoles, but upgrade benefits for those with the newest systems seems like a sensible next step for the game. The hardware capabilities of the PS5 and Xbox Series X are much greater than those of older generation consoles, and this would be another chance for Crytek to optimize Crysis Remastered to push the limits of next-gen hardware as Crysis once did. The multiple graphics modes and ray-tracing capabilities in Crysis Remastered will function better on next-gen consoles, and fans are hoping even more next-gen features make it into the game.

The most popular requests so far for next-gen upgrades are an unlocked frame rate on performance mode and haptic feedback features on the PS5. An unlocked frame rate would allow Crysis Remastered players on consoles to possibly push the game past 60 fps, creating an even smoother visual experience. The PS5 DualSense haptic feedback features have also been lauded by many gamers and would add another level of immersion to Crysis Remastered. Other requests from fans call for the game’s addition to Xbox Game Pass and a physical release.

The tweet from Crytek doesn’t go into detail about what these upgrades will be but, hopefully, the developer can implement next-gen upgrades without compounding existing issues with Crysis Remastered. Crytek’s updates for the game have fixed bugs but have also added more problems on a few occasions. An October 2020 update for Crysis Remastered added a huge problem where vegetation in the game would freeze. If Crytek can steer away from this kind of update and give gamers a clean enhancement experience, it could go a long way to getting more players back on board with the game.

Crysis Remastered is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
