Crysis Remastered was originally set to release later in July on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, but the first gameplay trailer leaked early to heavy criticism from fans. Crytek then promised to listen to fans’ pleas and postponed the release date in order to further polish the game and meet the standards of the latest consoles and computers. It was later revealed that the Nintendo Switch port of the game would release ahead of the other versions and keep the July 23rd slot.

New promotional gameplay clips from the Twitter account have shown off just how good the Crysis remaster looks on Nintendo Switch. While the other versions may be delayed for more polish, the graphics and gameplay captured by the Switch are pretty amazing for a handheld console.

The clip shows an instance of the destructible environment and vegetation bending in Crysis, which, as seen in the video, allows players to shoot down trees during battle. Crysis was a benchmark game when it first released in 2007, providing a stunning level of depth and detail in the gameplay world that included one of the first instances of vegetation moving from player interaction. Bringing this level of detail to Switch is an impressive feat. The Crysis website also shows other instances of Switch gameplay that display the game’s dynamic lighting and gyro aiming.

While Switch fans will be able to enjoy Crysis Remastered by the end of the month, other players will have to wait a bit longer. The Crysis Twitter account did tell PC and console owners to stay tuned and that there would be more updates shortly. For those wishing to replay the original Crysis games, the trilogy was recently made available through EA Access for Xbox One. Considering how quickly Crytek is making moves to polish the game and how far along the Switch rendition is, it can’t be too much longer before Crysis Remastered is available for everyone.

Crysis Remastered will be released on July 23 for Nintendo Switch with PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions in development.
